Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Gardens is staging a week of information, displays, guided walks and workshops to help locals get to know and love the gardens.

Running from March 1 to 7 at its Arts & Ecology Centre, Palm Creek Road, Tanawha, the aim is to allow people to experience their Bushland Botanic Gardens ‘up close’ with Friends of MRBBG members.

“You can learn about volunteering opportunities in activities like Gardening, Guiding and Information services, IT, Botany, Bushcare and more  -  proudly supporting Sunshine Coast Council to promote and protect our local flora and fauna,” said Friends of MRBBG spokesperson Malcolm Cox.

“The Friends are the community backbone of this unique and amazing facility that combines managed gardens and natural bushland, art and ecology, plants with pleasure and our Open Day on Saturday, March 6 will feature extra ‘behind the scenes’ talks and walks on all our activities and projects.”

“There will be two ‘Grow your own natives’ introductory workshops during the week, and an expert Botanical Book Talk as well as free Guided Walks about the Gardens and local native plants.”

• Register on Eventbrite for specific COVID safe activities (bookings essential), or simply turn up between 10am and 2pm on any day that week. For more information, check the website: www.friendsofmaroochybotanicgardens.org.au/volunteeringopenweekevent or email  friendsofMRRBBG@gmail.com.
